Dear Alumnae and Family,
I am sending you all a message to let you know that one of our dear sisters of long acquaintance with Fiji, died on 7 December (our 8th which was her feastday). May she rest in peace. She had lived for many years in Dublin after leaving the Pacific to be near her only sister who was blind. Her base was our Convent in Rathmines, Dublin. However, this residence was put on the market a couple of years ago and all the community were re-located. Sr Eileen was relocated to our Provincial House in Dublin called Mount Sackville. She lived happily with our Community there which is a large community of retired sisters. It is equipped with a modern nursing home for when the sisters need this type of care with its own specialised Staff. ....all under one roof....a very large building complex for the sisters. It is also adjoined to a large Secondary School for girls. So Sr Eileen would have felt at home there as did Sr James ( also an early missionary to Fiji for a few years who died recently also).
I thought you and all the alumnae of older years would be interested to receive this news. For many of us who went through St Joseph's Primary ( now the Reserved Bank Site) Sr Immaculata (as we knew her) was our first teacher in the Primmer class.
Please pass this news on to all the girls. She will be another "Angel" in Heaven looking out for us. Let us place our intentions in her care alongside all our other sisters now enjoying the Face of God in their Heavenly reward.
I cannot end this letter without congratulating you all on the brilliant celebration of the Sapphire Jubilee. I have seen some snap shots of it all and it looked like a very happy and blest occasion. It was sad that many of us could not be present to celebrate with you. You were, however, very much in our hearts and thoughts. God bless all those who worked so hard to get it on the road and see to the smooth running of everything. God bless you and my Anne Marie, St Joseph and all our Sisters now in Heaven smile gently and lovingly upon you all.
Thank you so much for your fidelity and love of all the sisters and the way in which you support all that we have stood for over the years. The witness you give of your lives and your desire to keep the school alive and active is so rewarding for us sisters. You are all treasured in our hearts and in our daily prayers.
God Bless
Loloma Levu
Sr Allison Macalister
