September Alumnae Spotlight -

The Story of Talei Tora: Class of 1996

2nd September 2026

This month, we shine the spotlight on Talei Tora from the Class of 1996, as she reflects on treasured childhood memories, unforgettable moments at St Joseph’s Secondary School, and the people and lessons that have shaped her journey. From the disappointment of missing out on the 1995 FM96 Rock Challenge to the unforgettable Lion King production that followed, Talei shares how the encouragement of Sr Genevieve turned disappointment into one of her fondest school memories. She also reflects on the lasting influence of her parents, the values SJSS instilled in her, and the faith that continues to guide her today. Her message to current students and fellow alumnae is one of courage, authenticity, perseverance and living life to its fullest. Read Talei’s inspiring Spotlight and reconnect with the memories, sisterhood and lessons that continue to connect our SJSS community across the years.

A Message to Our Alumnae!

To all our Alumnae travelling to Suva for the 70 Platinum Jubilee Reunion in September 2026:
What a wonderful occasion it will be as alumnae from across the globe, spanning the 1950s through to the 2020s, come together with our local Fiji alumnae to celebrate the enduring spirit of St Joseph’s Secondary School.
We look forward to reconnecting with old friends, making new memories, sharing stories and laughter, and meeting today’s students, who carry the SJSS legacy forward.
To everyone travelling from near and far, travel safely and enjoy every moment of the journey. May your time in Suva be filled with friendship, joy, nostalgia and the special bonds that have kept us connected across generations and continents.
Welcome home to SJSS! We look forward to seeing you all in September.

Our Mission Statement

The Spirit of Fijian ancestry lives on in our SJSS Community as our paths take us to all points of the globe, where we live, work and play guided by our family and Cluny values.

Our Sydney chapter meets regularly to plan and hold fundraising events, which are packed with kailas and kana that bonds the connection to our home country and Alumnae worldwide.

The xSJSS-Sydney goals are to support, in various ways, our school and the welfare of our beloved Cluny Sisters in Fiji.
